Being active is one of the best things you can do for your heart! Starting healthy habits young can help build good habits in adulthood. In a world full of screens, it can be difficult to get kids interested in being active. Here are eight kid friendly ways to get them moving!

1.Yoga

Yoga is a great way to get moving! yoga has lots of benefits including improvements in strength, balance, and stress reduction! Stress can put strain on your heart, so reducing stress can be important for your health! Doing yoga on a regular basis has been shown to decrease body-wide inflammation and lower blood pressure! It's super easy to get started, you can search online for "kid friendly yoga" and pick the one that looks the most fun! it's a fun way for the whole family to improve their health.

2.Family Bike Ride

A family bike ride is a fun way to get fresh air and exercise. It's also good for your heart, a bike ride can be a low impact, easy way to get your heart rate elevated! and it a great way to get outside more! Just remember to take proper safety precautions when riding a bike, like wearing a helmet and protective padding!

3.Build an Obstacle Course

This is a great way to get creative and have fun. You can build an obstacle course indoors or outdoors with things you can find around your house. There are so many ways to customize this activity for your family. This is a simple way to switch up how to be active, and what kid doesn't love an obstacle course?

4.Sports

Sports are an amazing way to get kids moving! there are so many options for sports you can chose from, all with their own benefits! Sports are also a great way to teach kids teamwork and sportsmanship, and it's a great way for them to make friends!

5.Family Hikes

Hikes are a really fun way to get outdoors and see new things, all while getting some exercise in. Hiking is a great way to get your blood flowing and reduce stress, also spending time in nature is a great way to get away from screens and have fun family time. There are lots of really beautiful and beginner friendly hiking trails to tryout, just remember to come prepared with water and hike appropriate clothes.

6.Swimming

Swimming is a great activity to both have fun and stay healthy! Swimming can help build strength, and improve balance and coordination, all while being a low impact way to exercise and improve heart health! But remember anytime a child is near any body of water it is incredibly important to keep a very close eye on them and take proper safety measures to prevent drowning.

7.Dancing

Dancing is a super fun way to get moving! You can just turn on some kid friendly music and move, or you can find kids dance instruction videos online, either way this is a great way to have fun while getting exercise, and you can be as creative as you want with your dance moves!

8.Going to the Park

And last but certainly not least, going to the park. The park is an amazing way to stay active, from walking around to playing on the playground, there as so many things to do and ways to stay active there, and what kid doesn't love the park? It's a great way to get outside and spend an afternoon having fun!
