Making healthy choices when it comes to food is one of the best things you can do for your heart. Eating balanced meals is really important, sometimes you need a snack in between meals. Depending on the snack you pick you can have something both yummy and healthy! Learning good food habits young is really important. It can help decrease the risk of heart issues later in life and build a better relationship with food. Here are 5 healthy choices for kid friendly snacks.

1.Apples


Apples are a great choice for a healthy snack, Apples are full of vitamins and are high in fiber and antioxidants, they are also easy and delicious! You can eat them plain or make apple slices and eat them with yogurt or almond butter!

2.Veggies and Hummus

This is a super easy and yummy snack with lots of opportunities for verity. You can pick your favorite heart healthy veggies like carrots, bell peppers, celery, and many others. You can buy hummus or make your own at home with recipes you can find online. This is also a great way to try new veggies!

3.Smoothies

Smoothies are amazing, they make a great snack to take on the go! There are so many delicious recipes for heart healthy smoothies online, you can pick the one that sounds the best to you and try it out! And you can never go wrong with a classic strawberry banana smoothie!

4.Veggie Wraps

A veggie wrap is a great way to include multiple vegetables in one snack. You can add as many veggies as you want on a whole grain tortilla and add a healthy dip if you want! There are so many ways to customizes this snack to make it perfect. Simple and yummy!

5.Fruit Parfaits

You can't go wrong with fruit parfaits, just pick your favorite fruit and yogurt, then you can add granola or nuts, it's really whatever you want! But remember not all yogurts are the best for you, Greek yogurt is a great option for this because it's low in sugar and high in protein, whole-milk yogurt is also a good option for younger kids.
