Listening to your body can help you know if something isn't right, symptoms like chest pain or discomfort, pain or tightness in your arms, a rapid heartbeat or shortness of breath, pain in your back or jaw, light headedness or nausea can all be signs something is wrong. symptoms might not always seem serious right away but it's incredibly important to talk to your doctors if you every experience any concerning symptoms.

symptoms can look different in men and women so it's important to know what heart attack symptoms can look like in both. Both men and women commonly experience:

  • Pain or discomfort in their chest

  • Feeling lightheaded

  • Shortness of breath

  • Pain in jaw

  • Pain in arms (one or both)

  • Nausea

  • Fast and/or irregular heartbeat

Men usually experience the more "classic" heart attack symptoms which include:

  • Chest pain or discomfort

  • Feeling shortness of breath

  • Fast and/or irregular heartbeat

  • Breaking out in a cold sweat

  • Feeling lightheaded

Symptoms that are more common in women are:

  • Pain or discomfort in arms or back

  • Feeling of anxiety

  • unusual tiredness

  • Upset stomach

  • Shortness of breath

Both men and women can experience any of these symptoms, but some symptoms tend to be more commonly experienced in either men or women. If you believe you may be having a heart attack call 911 for help immediately.

Waiting too long can be incredibly dangerous. If you have heart disease, it cannot be overstated how important it is to talk to a doctor as soon as concerning symptoms appear, if you believe you are having a medical emergency call for emergency services right away.

Knowing the signs of heart disease and heart attacks can save your or someone else's life!
